Whirlpool, washer, Ultimate Care II LSQ8243H, not draining/spinning

Problem: Whirlpool washer  Ultimate Care II LSQ8243H not draining/spinning. Makes noise indicating that it wants to but no action and then the noise is gone. The agitator spins freely when machine is off and the lid sensor operates when lid is lowered.

Solution: take washer cover off and check all drains to make sure there are no obstructions. Obstruction, a sock, located in the drain pump ! removed and all works fine now.
